ハタとの勝負は最初の2秒で決まる。ヒットと同時に反転し、巣穴へ一気に突っ込む。そこで止められればあとは巻き上げるだけ。ためらえば仕掛けごとリーフに持ち込まれる。

島中のボミーや沈船には必ず潜んでいる。ケラプ（ハタ）は、インドネシア名物の甘酢料理でも主役となる魚だ。
