The fish
ドッグトゥースはリーフが深海へと落ち込むブレイクラインに潜み、その地形を巧みに利用します。フォール中のジグが中層に差しかかった瞬間にバイトし、そのまま壁際へ一直線に突っ込みます。ランディングできる魚よりも失う魚の方が多い――それこそがこの魚の魅力です。
バリ島北東部のウォールやペニダ島のドロップオフは、60–150 metresの水深でヘビータックルのバーチカルジギングを行う、典型的なドッグトゥースの好ポイントです。

- 太いリーダーは必須――その鋭い歯は名前の由来そのものです。
- ヒット直後は強引に寄せること。主導権を与えると一気にリーフへ突っ込まれます。
- プレッシャーの高い状況ではスローピッチジグが効果的です。
