Seminyak to Gili Trawangan
Your journey, step by step
Every leg with real timing, and what each one costs.
What this journey costs
One traveller taking the whole car, on the cheapest class and crossing. A group splits the car, so it costs less each.
Know before you go
The things travellers actually ask us about this route.
What time to leave Seminyak
For a 09:30 boat from Sanur, a pickup around 07:45 is comfortable — the bypass is quick once you are on it, and the slow part is the last kilometre of Seminyak itself. The one-way system around Jalan Kayu Aya means the car may approach from the opposite end to the one you expect, so agree the pickup point rather than the street name.
Late checkout, early boat
Most Seminyak hotels check out at noon and every useful Gili departure has gone by then. If your boat is in the morning, ask the night before for bags to be collected early; if you are travelling the day you check out, the afternoon Sanur departure is the one that fits — at the cost of the choppier crossing.
Padang Bai instead
It is the shorter crossing by roughly an hour, and from Seminyak the drive costs you most of that back. Choose it when you want the least time at sea — with children, or if anyone in the party is a poor sailor — and accept the earlier start. The results page prices both harbours live so the trade is visible rather than argued.
Bags travel pooled
Fast boats stow luggage together in the bow, not under your seat — keep anything fragile, valuable or needed on the crossing in a small bag you hold. Each operator’s allowance is shown on its card when you pick the boat, and it is usually 20–25 kg plus a day bag.
Which island
The same boats call at Gili Air and Gili Meno on most runs, so the journey is identical until the last twenty minutes. Trawangan is the busy one with the nightlife, Air is the middle ground, Meno is the quiet one — pick when you book and get off at your stop.
Other ways in
Routes we do not sell, named so your comparison is complete.
Via Serangan
Guides aimed at the beach strip often send you here, and it is a short drive. We currently have no bookable Gili Trawangan sailing from Serangan on any date, so it is a direct booking with the operator rather than something we can sell you.
Fly to Lombok, then Bangsal
Denpasar to Lombok is a short hop, followed by a road transfer to Bangsal and a fifteen-minute local boat. More expensive and more moving parts, but the time actually on open water is minimal — the usual choice for travellers who know they get seasick.
