Bali Line: Serangan to Nusa Penida
Last checked August 2026. Live departure times, durations and fares are shown in the timetable on this page. Where a figure below is the operator's own and we have not confirmed it ourselves, we say so.
Bali Line, part of the ESA-G maritime group, runs one crossing and does it twice a day: Serangan Harbor to Kutampi on Nusa Penida, one hour each way, at IDR 150,000 per adult. That is the lowest fare of any crossing we sell.
The Boat and the Crossing
Bali Line operates a single vessel, the ESA-G, and it is a large one by the standards of this crossing — a high-capacity ferry rather than the mid-sized speedboats most Penida operators use. A bigger, heavier hull generally rides the Badung Strait more steadily, which matters if you are prone to seasickness.
We do not publish a seat count for this vessel because we have not been able to confirm one from a source independent of the operator. Ride quality and onboard comfort are likewise not yet verified by us.
The crossing is 60 minutes scheduled, longer than the Sanur departures because Serangan sits further round the coast — you are trading a little sea time for the cheapest fare and a quieter harbour.
Ports: Serangan and Kutampi
Serangan is closer to Jimbaran, Kuta and Nusa Dua than Sanur is, and much closer than Padang Bai, but it is reached via the Serangan causeway — check your route before assuming it is quick from your hotel. Arrive at least 45 minutes before departure for check-in.
Kutampi sits on Nusa Penida's east coast rather than the busier north-western jetties. That suits east-island itineraries and avoids the congestion at Banjar Nyuh and Toya Pakeh, but it does mean a longer transfer if your accommodation is on the west side. Arrange your Penida transport around Kutampi, not around the harbour you expected.
Cancellation and Date Changes
Bookings made here are covered by Sailtix standard booking policies — the same clear terms that apply across every operator we sell, so you do not have to work out where you stand with each one. You can read our booking, cancellation and refund policies here.
You cancel through Sailtix, not through the operator. If you need to cancel or move a booking made here, contact Sailtix and we handle it with Bali Line on your behalf — you do not need to phone the harbour, email the operator, chase anyone in Indonesian, or be in the country to do it. One message to us is enough, and the earlier it reaches us the better the outcome tends to be.
With only one sailing each way, a missed boat means a missed day rather than a later departure — so if your plans shift, tell us as soon as you know.
Who It Suits
- Good fit: day-trippers to Nusa Penida on the cheapest fare available, travellers staying in Jimbaran, Kuta or Nusa Dua who are closer to Serangan than Sanur, and anyone whose Penida plans centre on the east of the island.
- Consider alternatives: if you need departure flexibility, Maruti Group runs the Sanur corridor far more frequently for IDR 25,000 more. If you want a private terminal at both ends, Arjuna offers that from Sanur.

Policies and check-in
Refund policy: Bookings made through Sailtix are covered by Sailtix standard booking policies, which apply consistently across every operator we sell. See the Sailtix help centre for current booking, cancellation and refund terms. Cancellations are handled by Sailtix on the customer's behalf — the customer does not need to contact the operator or the harbour. Bali Line runs a single sailing each way per day, so a missed departure means a missed day rather than a later boat; requests should be raised as early as possible.
Rescheduling: Date changes for Sailtix bookings are handled by Sailtix on the customer's behalf under Sailtix standard booking policies; the customer does not need to contact the operator. With one departure each way per day (08:00 out of Serangan, 16:30 out of Kutampi) there is no same-day alternative, so changes should be requested as early as possible. Check-in: arrive at least 45 minutes before departure at Serangan Harbor.
Read the terms shown for the exact sailing during checkout. Arrive inside the operator's required check-in window and keep your identification and e-ticket available. Port fees or local transfers may be separate unless the booking explicitly includes them.
