Maruti Group: Bali's Longest-Running Nusa Penida Operator

Maruti Group — PT. Mertha Segara — has run the Sanur to Nusa Penida shuttle since 2004, which makes it the longest-established operator on the crossing. It is not one company but a group operating two brands off one shared fleet: Maruti Fast Boat and Glory Fast Cruise.

One Fleet, Two Brands — What That Means for You

Maruti and Glory are not separate operations. Glory Fast Cruise lists Lucky Monkey, White Monkey and Maruti Duta 2 — all Maruti-branded hulls — as boats running its routes, and the operator states plainly that it "reserves the right to change the vessel" depending on circumstances.

So the practical reality: you are booking the crossing, not a specific boat. The hull you board may carry either brand's name. That is normal for this group and not a bait-and-switch, but it is worth knowing if you chose a sailing expecting a particular vessel.

The Fleet

Eight vessels across the group, ranging from 70 to 130 seats:

Published fleet figures from the operator. These are mid-size boats by Bali standards — noticeably smaller than the 210–382 seat vessels used on the longer Gili crossings, which suits a 30-minute hop across the Badung Strait.

Booking and Boarding

• Check-in opens 90 minutes before departure and closes strictly 30 minutes before. The operator asks you to arrive at least 1 hour ahead for a smooth boarding.
• Luggage: two pieces carried free, each up to 20 inches, 25 kg total. Surfboards may incur an extra charge. The operator accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to luggage.
• Departure port: Sanur Harbor, South Bali — no long road transfer from Kuta, Seminyak or Sanur itself, which is this crossing's main advantage over the Padang Bai routes.
• Weather: departure and arrival times are subject to sea conditions, and the operator reserves the right to change the vessel.

Who It Suits

• Good fit: anyone staying in South Bali who wants the shortest crossing to Nusa Penida at the lowest fare, and travellers who value an operator that has run this route for two decades.
• Consider alternatives: if you want the Gili Islands or Lombok rather than Nusa Penida, this is the wrong corridor entirely — see Eka Jaya or Semaya One from Padang Bai.
