Fees

  • Visitors to the three Gilis pay an entry fee of Rp 20,000 (foreign) or Rp 10,000 (Indonesian adults), in force since 1 February 2024. Most boats from Bali collect it when you board or include it in the ticket; otherwise staff collect it at the Gili harbour.
  • A rise to Rp 50,000 for foreign visitors has been proposed but was still a draft in 2026, so the Rp 20,000 rate applies.

Check-in

  • Eka Jaya transfers passengers by shuttle boat between its ferry and the shore here, so check-in and the shuttle leave earlier than on other islands.
  • Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure; its boats leave on time.

Boarding

  • Expect to step through shallow water when you get off, so wear shoes that can get wet.

Getting around

  • There are no motor vehicles on the Gilis. You walk, rent a bicycle or take a cidomo (horse cart), which is the usual way to move heavy luggage. Cidomo fares are not fixed, so agree the price before you get on.
  • A 2026 transport-office advisory also bars renting or riding e-bikes and e-scooters on the islands.

  • Weather can cancel sailings, most often from January to March. Eka Jaya advises leaving at least 24 hours before any onward flight, and mornings are usually the calmest time to cross.

  • Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure; Semaya One recommends arriving an hour early with your ID or passport.

Getting there

  • Bangsal is a stop for Gili Getaway, Semaya One, Wijaya Buyuk and Eka Jaya boats from Bali. Cars park at the Bangsal Type B land terminal, which the provincial transport office reorganised in November 2025.

Good to know

  • Touts and unofficial sellers work around Bangsal; buy boat tickets only at the official ticket office.
  • The Padangbai harbourmaster suspends Bali–Lombok fast boats when high waves are forecast in the Lombok Strait, as happened in February 2025, July 2025 and March 2026.

About this route (Gili Air to Bangsal)

The fast boat from Gili Air to Bangsal takes you from the Gilis back to the Lombok mainland. On the current schedule D'Camel Fast Ferry and Starfish Fast Cruise both sail the route, every day of the week.

All departures are in the afternoon: D'Camel Fast Ferry leaves in the early afternoon and Starfish Fast Cruise in the late afternoon. The crossing is short either way, about 10 to 15 minutes. The live schedule above shows the exact times and current fares for your date.

There are no motor vehicles on Gili Air, so you reach the harbour on foot, by bicycle or by cidomo (horse cart), the usual choice with heavy luggage. Cidomo fares are not fixed, so agree the price before you set off. There are ATMs close to the harbour if you need cash before you cross.

Bangsal is the harbour on the Lombok side. Cars park at the Bangsal Type B land terminal, which the provincial transport office reorganised in November 2025, so that is the place to meet a driver for the onward trip to your hotel or the airport. Touts and unofficial sellers work around Bangsal; if you need another boat ticket there, buy it only at the official ticket office.

Weather can cancel sailings, most often from January to March. If you are flying out of Lombok the same day, leave a generous margin rather than a tight connection.

Travel tips

Choose the early-afternoon D'Camel Fast Ferry or the late-afternoon Starfish Fast Cruise boat, depending on when you need to be on Lombok.

Agree the cidomo fare on Gili Air before you load your bags, as prices are not fixed.

Arrange to meet your driver at the Bangsal Type B land terminal, where cars park.
