Coryphaena hippurus
Gold, green and airborne. The most beautiful fight in the sea.
The fish
Mahi (dorado) shadow anything that floats — logs, weed lines, buoys. Find the structure and you find the school, blazing gold and electric blue under the boat.
They jump constantly, they pull hard for their size, and they are one of the finest eating fish in the ocean. The perfect family target.

Angler's notes
- Leave the first hooked fish in the water — the school stays with it.
- Fresh mahi tacos on the beach are non-negotiable.
- Great species for kids: fast action, spectacular colours.
Planning a Mahi-Mahi fishing trip
Choose the fishing ground, season and technique before selecting a charter. Ask whether the published package includes tackle, bait, refreshments, licenses or harbor charges, and confirm how many anglers the vessel can carry comfortably. A trip designed for trolling can use different equipment and operating water from a jigging, popping or reef-fishing trip.
Live availability is tied to a real boat and crew. Check the departure location, trip duration, target area and current sea conditions for your date. The captain may adjust the exact fishing ground for safety, weather and recent local activity, so treat species encounters as a goal rather than a guarantee.
