The fish
Yellowfin patrol the deep channels between the islands, where cold upwellings stack the baitfish. Hook one and the first run can strip a hundred metres before you settle in for the slow, stubborn circle fight.
The Lombok Strait is one of Indonesia's most reliable tuna highways — May to September, when the seas glass off, is prime time.
