Fishing from
Fishing from Sanur Harbour
The busiest departure point in Bali, and the only one where fishing boats actually leave the beach. Twenty minutes of road from Denpasar, thirty minutes of water from Nusa Penida.
What actually departs from here
Every fishing charter on this platform departs from Sanur — full-day trips rigged for trolling, jigging and popping, which is the full method set for the water outside. It is also the harbour with the most published fast-boat routes and the most operators, so the same beach handles a day on the water and the ride to the islands.
The Badung Strait & Nusa Penida, month by month
Measured at a fixed point every day for four years. “Easy days” is the share of days with a calm sea and light wind — the days a small boat can genuinely work.

What is in range
Species whose published grounds sit in the Badung Strait & Nusa Penida. Everything here is reachable on a day trip from this harbour.
The grounds
The Sanur reefs start within sight of the beach and hold snapper year-round. Everything else is a run east into the strait: the Nusa Penida walls and current lines, and the Nusa Dua flats down the coast. Nothing worth fishing from here is more than an hour away, which is why a half-day is a real trip and not a compromise.
Book the boat, not just the day
