Angel Billabong Fast Cruise: Sanur's Value-Tier Workhorse

Angel Billabong Fast Cruise does one thing: the Badung Strait crossing between Sanur Harbor and Nusa Penida's Banjar Nyuh pier, about 30 minutes each way on the live timetable. One corridor, one boat, several crossings a day — but don't let the single-vessel fleet suggest a small operation. The boat itself is one of the larger budget hulls on this route.

Schedule and Crossing Time

The crossing is 30 minutes on the live Sailtix timetable. These are the live departures on a sampled August date — the anchor pair (08:15 out, 16:30 back) runs daily, and additional crossings appear on most dates:

DirectionDeparturesDuration
Sanur → Nusa Penida (Banjar Nyuh)08:15, 10:00, 14:15, 17:0030 min
Nusa Penida → Sanur07:20, 09:00, 13:00, 16:3030 min

The day-trip math: take the 08:15 over (docking 08:45) and the 16:30 back, and you have close to eight hours on Nusa Penida — enough for the west-coast loop. The 17:00 outbound is among the last boats off Sanur, useful when a flight lands mid-afternoon; the 07:20 return is the early boat back for a Bali checkout.

Fares

The live adult fare on Sailtix is IDR 150,000 each way — flat across the day's departures at the time of writing, which puts Angel Billabong in the corridor's value tier. No fare classes, no premium cabin: one boat, one price.

How It Compares at Sanur

The Sanur → Banjar Nyuh corridor is crowded, and fares split into two clear tiers. Live prices from the same sampled date:

OperatorAdult fareSampled departuresBoat
Angel BillabongIDR 150,0004fastboat — 110 seats (published)
Axe StoneIDR 150,0006fastboat fleet
The TanisIDR 150,0004fast ferry
SanjayaIDR 150,0002fastboat
StarfishIDR 250,0001fastboat
ArjunaIDR 290,0001fast cruise — 86 seats (listed)
The AngkalIDR 300,0004fastboat

Read the tiers honestly: at 150,000 you are choosing between four services at the same price, and the deciding factors are departure time and hull size. Angel Billabong's spread — mid-morning 10:00, mid-afternoon 14:15, evening 17:00 — covers gaps the other value operators leave open, and its published 110-seat hull is the largest capacity listed in the value tier. If raw frequency matters more, Axe Stone runs the most crossings. The premium tier is mostly selling schedule position and service, not more boat.

The Boat

The fleet is a single vessel, Angel Billabong. The operator's published specifications describe a 19-metre hull carrying up to 110 passengers in a coach-style cabin, powered by five 250 hp outboards (about 1,250 hp combined) with a cruising speed of 25–30 knots. The operator lists a wide air-conditioned cabin, life jackets and two lifeboats; our booking data adds a toilet and WiFi. At 19 metres this sits at the larger end of the budget boats on the route — in the July–August trade-wind chop that generally means a steadier ride than the tier's smaller hulls.

The single-vessel reality still cuts one way: there is no spare boat. When the Angel Billabong is full, sold out means sold out, and if it goes to maintenance the timetable pauses — in high season, book ahead rather than walking up.

Specifications above are the operator's published figures, cross-checked across booking platforms; we have not yet put a Sailtix crew on board to verify ride quality or facilities first-hand. We will add a first-hand assessment when we have one.

The Name: Angel's Billabong

The operator is named after Angel's Billabong, the natural infinity pool carved into the limestone of Nusa Penida's west coast, right beside Broken Beach. It is one of the island's signature sights and pairs naturally with this crossing: from Banjar Nyuh pier the drive is roughly an hour on winding roads, and most day-trippers see it on the classic west-coast loop with Kelingking and Broken Beach.

One safety note that belongs in any honest guide: the pool is only safe at low tide in calm conditions. Waves break directly over the ledge in swell, and people have been swept off it. Check conditions locally before climbing down, and stay out of the water entirely if surge is running.

Check-in at Sanur

Angel Billabong departs from Sanur Harbor; the operator's counter address is Jl. Matahari Terbit No. 9A, Sanur. Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure — your ticket shows the exact check-in window — and allow for Sanur's morning congestion if you are coming from Canggu or Ubud. Harbor-side fees, where applicable, are payable locally per the harbor's own rules.

Cancellation and Changes

The operator does not publish cancellation or reschedule terms; bookings follow standard terms and the exact conditions are shown on your ticket at checkout. Weather holds are a fact of the Badung Strait: when the port authority pauses departures, operators re-seat passengers on the next available crossing.

Who It Suits

Book Angel Billabong if: you want the value tier on the Sanur–Nusa Penida run with the biggest published hull in that tier, or a departure time the other budget names don't offer — the 10:00 late-morning start, the 14:15 afternoon hop, or the 17:00 evening crossing.

Look elsewhere if: your plans hinge on one specific departure in peak season — with a single vessel there is no second boat if it sells out — or you want maximum schedule flexibility, where Axe Stone's higher frequency fits better.
