Fees
- Visitors to the three Gilis pay an entry fee of Rp 20,000 (foreign) or Rp 10,000 (Indonesian adults), in force since 1 February 2024. Most boats from Bali collect it when you board or include it in the ticket; otherwise staff collect it at the Gili harbour.
- A rise to Rp 50,000 for foreign visitors has been proposed but was still a draft in 2026, so the Rp 20,000 rate applies.
Check-in
- Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure; its boats leave on time.
- For the trip back, Wahana passengers report to its check-in staff to swap the booking for a boarding pass, then wait at the jetty while porters load the bags.
Boarding
- Boats arrive at the public harbour on the island’s sheltered east side, close to the market and most places to stay. On Wahana boats, porters unload the bags.
Getting around
- There are no motor vehicles on the Gilis. You walk, rent a bicycle or take a cidomo (horse cart), which is the usual way to move heavy luggage. Cidomo fares are not fixed, so agree the price before you get on.
- A 2026 transport-office advisory also bars renting or riding e-bikes and e-scooters on the islands.
Facilities
- Several ATMs are near the harbour, but they can run out of cash in July, August and at year-end, especially in the evening.
Good to know
- Weather can cancel sailings, most often from January to March. Eka Jaya advises leaving at least 24 hours before any onward flight, and mornings are usually the calmest time to cross.
