Gili Gede lies off the Sekotong coast of West Lombok. The fast boat from Bali is run by Gili Getaway, the only operator in the live schedule above for this route, and it takes you straight to the island without a drive across Lombok.
The boat leaves Serangan Harbor in south Bali in the morning and reaches Gili Gede in about 2 hours 15 minutes. Gili Gede is a stop on Gili Getaway's line from Serangan: after dropping passengers here, the same boat continues up Lombok's west coast to Senggigi and Gili Air.
It does not sail every day. Pick your travel date in the schedule above to see which days the boat runs before you plan the rest of your trip around it.
Serangan is about 30 to 40 minutes by road from Kuta or the airport in normal traffic. Denpasar's city transport office has run the port since June 2024, and a city regulation sets a small per-person port entry pass. After check-in you wait in the port's waiting area until boarding is called; toilets and small food stalls are at or near the harbour.
Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure, and its boats leave on time. Normal luggage travels free; surfboard bags are charged per journey.
On Gili Gede the boat from Bali berths at a private resort jetty, so there is no beach landing. The island has no ATM, so bring enough cash for your stay.
Local boats cross between Gili Gede and Tembowong on the Sekotong mainland. That crossing is the way onto Lombok itself, or the way in if you reach Sekotong overland rather than by fast boat from Bali.
Weather can cancel sailings, most often from January to March, and mornings are usually the calmest time to be at sea. Leave some slack around the crossing if you have a flight or another boat to catch.
Fares for each departure are shown live in the schedule above. Choose your date, check the departure and book your e-tickets online.
