  • The Nusa Penida and Lembongan island levy is not part of the boat fare; Maruti asks passengers to pay it separately.

Check-in

  • Maruti and Glory open check-in 90 minutes before departure and close it 30 minutes before, and ask you to arrive at least an hour early.

Boarding

  • The harbour, opened in November 2022, boards from a floating pontoon, so you step on dry instead of wading from the beach.

Getting there

  • Grab and Gojek can drop off at the harbour but not pick up; walk about 600–700 m towards the main road to book a ride.

Facilities

  • The terminal has operator ticket counters and indoor waiting areas, with luggage storage, convenience stores and cafés at or next to the harbour.

Good to know

  • Harbour taxi drivers are reported to charge more than app fares; pre-book a transfer or walk out of the no-pick-up zone.

Fees

  • Denpasar’s regulation sets the port entry pass at Rp 2,500 per person. The city transport office has run the port since June 2024.

Check-in

  • Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure; its boats leave on time.

Boarding

  • Gili Getaway carries normal luggage free; surfboard bags cost Rp 100,000 (single) or Rp 200,000 (multi-board) per journey. BlueWater allows two bags up to 25 kg in total.

Getting there

  • Serangan is about 30–40 minutes by road from Kuta or the airport in normal traffic, and BlueWater recommends it if you are staying in south Bali.

Facilities

  • After check-in you wait in the port’s waiting area until boarding is called. Toilets and small food stalls are at or near the harbour.

Check-in

  • Eka Jaya opens check-in one hour before departure and closes it 30 minutes before; late passengers are not boarded or refunded.

Boarding

  • Eka Jaya, Wahana and BlueWater each allow two bags per passenger, up to 25 kg in total.

Getting there

  • Fast boats leave from Padang Bai’s public boat dock, not from the car-ferry terminal for Lembar.
  • The drive from Ubud takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. BlueWater suggests Padang Bai if you are staying in central Bali and warns that roads get busy.
  • Grab and Gojek can drop you at the port, but app pick-ups there are obstructed; travellers usually walk 5 to 10 minutes away before booking a ride.

Good to know

  • Touts around the harbour sell boat tickets at inflated prices, so buy from the operator’s counter or in advance. If an unofficial porter offers to carry your bags, agree the price first.

Gili Air

Fees

  • Visitors to the three Gilis pay an entry fee of Rp 20,000 (foreign) or Rp 10,000 (Indonesian adults), in force since 1 February 2024. Most boats from Bali collect it when you board or include it in the ticket; otherwise staff collect it at the Gili harbour.
  • A rise to Rp 50,000 for foreign visitors has been proposed but was still a draft in 2026, so the Rp 20,000 rate applies.

Check-in

  • Eka Jaya transfers passengers by shuttle boat between its ferry and the shore here, so check-in and the shuttle leave earlier than on other islands.
  • Gili Getaway asks you to be at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure; its boats leave on time.

Boarding

  • Expect to step through shallow water when you get off, so wear shoes that can get wet.

Getting around

  • There are no motor vehicles on the Gilis. You walk, rent a bicycle or take a cidomo (horse cart), which is the usual way to move heavy luggage. Cidomo fares are not fixed, so agree the price before you get on.
  • A 2026 transport-office advisory also bars renting or riding e-bikes and e-scooters on the islands.

  • There are ATMs close to the harbour.

Good to know

  • Weather can cancel sailings, most often from January to March. Eka Jaya advises leaving at least 24 hours before any onward flight, and mornings are usually the calmest time to cross.
